Welfare of Legionnaires Takes Centre Stage

A major component of Akorede's administration will be the welfare and wellbeing of members of the Nigerian Legion.

He pledged to place the welfare of Legionnaires at the forefront of his administration, with particular attention to healthcare, social support and socio-economic empowerment.

He also highlighted the need to pay greater attention to the welfare of widows and dependants of fallen heroes, recognising the sacrifices made by members who served the nation and the responsibility of society to support those they left behind.

Building a Transparent and Accountable Legion

MWO Akorede further promised to establish an administration founded on transparency, accountability and progressive leadership.

According to him, members would be encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the affairs of the organisation, while constructive criticism, advice and good suggestions would be welcomed.

He emphasised that effective leadership requires collective participation and assured members that his administration would not operate in isolation.

A New Era of Unity and Collaboration

The chairman used the occasion to extend a message of unity to his fellow Legionnaires and other contestants in the election.

He called for solidarity, mutual respect and collective responsibility, stressing that the progress of the Nigerian Legion must remain greater than individual interests.

He particularly appreciated the support and cooperation received from Area Council Chairmen, especially those from the Oke Ogun zone, while appealing to other stakeholders to work with him in advancing the organisation.

“I promise that I will not let you down.”

Akorede also assured members that his doors would remain open to wise counsel, constructive ideas and meaningful suggestions, pledging to serve with dignity and integrity.

Commitment to Service

The new Oyo State Nigerian Legion Chairman's vision represents a commitment to repositioning the organisation through member welfare, institutional accountability, capacity development, security collaboration and unity.

His administration is expected to focus on strengthening the bond among Legionnaires while ensuring that the sacrifices and contributions of veterans continue to receive the recognition and support they deserve.

As he assumes the leadership of the Nigerian Legion in Oyo State, MWO Tajudeen Akorede has called on all members, stakeholders and relevant government institutions to join hands with his administration in building a stronger, more united and progressive Nigerian Legion.

He concluded his acceptance speech with prayers for the nation, the state and the organisation:

“God bless Nigeria.
God bless Oyo State.
God bless Nigerian Legion.”
