OKANLOMO OODUA, CHIEF JUBRIL DOTUN SANUSI HOSTS SUNDAY IGBOHO, COMMENDS IRU EKUN SECURITY OPERATIVES

The Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has hosted Yoruba advocate and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The meeting focused on issues relating to security, community development and the socio-economic well-being of Yorubaland, with emphasis on the role of community participation in protecting lives, property, farms and rural communities.

During the meeting, Chief Sanusi commended Chief Sunday Igboho and members of the Iru Ekun Security Network for their stated commitment to community safety and efforts aimed at supporting the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.

He also acknowledged what he described as the courage, dedication and sacrifices of the network's operatives in contributing to the protection of communities.

According to Sanusi, security remains a collective responsibility requiring cooperation among communities, traditional institutions, government and legally recognised security agencies.

He stressed that community-based security initiatives should complement the work of agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, while operating within the framework of the law.

The Okanlomo Oodua further urged members of the Iru Ekun Security Network to maintain discipline, professionalism and respect for the rule of law, as well as ensure effective coordination with relevant government security institutions.

He called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers, community leaders, government authorities and security agencies to promote a safer environment for residents, farmers, businesses and investors across Yorubaland.

Chief Sanusi expressed appreciation to Sunday Igboho for the visit and reaffirmed his support for initiatives focused on peace, security, unity and sustainable development in the region.
He noted that the engagement underscored the importance of dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders in addressing contemporary security challenges confronting communities across Yorubaland.
