2026 WAEC: JUBRIL DOTUN SANUSI’S ICAST SCHOOLS RECORDS 96.28% PASS RATE, SCORES 100% IN 12 SUBJECTS

Sanusi hails students, teachers, parents; says excellence is possible

ICAST Schools Ltd has recorded an impressive 96.28 per cent overall subject pass rate in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), with 543 passes out of 564 subject entries and a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate in 12 subjects.

The outstanding academic performance has attracted commendation from the Okanlomo Odua and Gbonka Olubadan, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, who described the achievement as a product of discipline, sacrifice, quality teaching, supportive parenting and the determination of the students.

In a congratulatory message to the ICAST Schools community, Sanusi said the result was more than a collection of statistics, stressing that academic excellence has a wider impact on families and society.

“When a child succeeds, a family rejoices; when a school produces excellence, a community rises,” he said.

According to the school’s 2026 WAEC performance analysis, ICAST Schools recorded 100 per cent pass rates in Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Government, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Further Mathematics, Literature-in-English, Geography, and Computer Hardware & GSM Repair.

The school also recorded an impressive 98.44 per cent pass rate in Mathematics, with 63 of 64 students successful, while 62 out of 64 students passed English Language, representing a 96.88 per cent pass rate.

Sanusi particularly commended the school’s performance in science and technology-related subjects, describing the results as a strong foundation for producing future engineers, doctors, scientists, technologists and innovators.

He noted that the 100 per cent performance in Computer Hardware & GSM Repair underscores the importance of an education system that goes beyond academic certificates to equip young people with practical, technological and entrepreneurial skills.

However, Sanusi urged the school not to rest on its achievements, calling for greater attention to areas where improvement is still required.

He specifically identified Yoruba and Civic Education, which recorded pass rates of 71.43 per cent and 79.69 per cent respectively, as subjects requiring renewed focus.

“True excellence does not celebrate success and hide weaknesses. It identifies them — and defeats them. That is how a good school becomes an exceptional school,” Sanusi stated.

He challenged the management of ICAST Schools to ensure that no major subject records below a 90 per cent pass rate in future examinations, while setting a target of 95 per cent and above in Yoruba and Civic Education.

The philanthropist and education advocate also praised the students for their hard work, the parents for their sacrifices and the teachers for their dedication, describing educators as the “silent heroes” behind academic success.

He urged the students not to become complacent following their impressive WAEC results, but rather to see the achievement as the beginning of greater opportunities.

“Do not allow success to make you comfortable. Let success make you hungrier for excellence,” he charged.

Sanusi further encouraged the school management to consolidate the achievement through increased investment in teacher development, science laboratories, ICT, digital learning, student mentoring, career guidance and practical vocational education.

According to him, the 2026 WAEC performance has provided ICAST Schools with evidence of its academic strength, but the achievement should serve as a foundation for even greater success.

He challenged the institution to move from its current 96.28 per cent overall subject pass rate to 98 per cent and above, with the ultimate goal of achieving sustained excellence.

“The objective is not simply to produce students who pass examinations. The objective is to produce young people who can pass through life successfully,” he said.

Sanusi congratulated the entire ICAST Schools family and urged the institution to remain committed to building a new generation of Nigerians equipped with knowledge, character, competence and the courage to shape the future.
