TINUBU 2027: SOLUDO HAILS UNPRECEDENTED CROSS-PARTY SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT’S RE-ELECTION BID

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has described the political support expressed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja as an unusual development in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has described the cross-party political support expressed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as an unusual development in Nigeria’s political history.

Soludo made the observation during the inauguration held in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, where political stakeholders gathered ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to a statement issued by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA), the governor highlighted the participation of political leaders from different party backgrounds as an indication of broad political cooperation around Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Anambra governor, who belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), reportedly linked his party’s support for the President to shared interests in national unity, security and economic prosperity.

He also drew attention to the participation of approximately 31 state governors at the gathering, describing it as evidence of a broad political alignment. However, the reported attendance should not be interpreted as a formal endorsement by every governor or as representing the views of all Nigerians.

Speaking on the administration’s economic policies, Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, described Tinubu’s approach as “pragmatic progressivism.” He argued that the administration had taken difficult policy decisions to address longstanding structural challenges in the Nigerian economy.

Soludo maintained that the government inherited significant economic difficulties and had initiated reforms aimed at stabilisation, recovery and sustainable growth.

However, the administration’s economic policies have continued to attract differing reactions, with supporters pointing to reform initiatives while critics raise concerns about the cost of living and the pace at which ordinary Nigerians are experiencing the benefits.

Soludo’s participation in the APC campaign council inauguration also highlighted the possibility of political cooperation across party lines, despite his continued affiliation with APGA.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general election gather momentum, his remarks have brought renewed attention to the relationship between political alliances, economic reforms and the debate over Tinubu’s re-election bid.
