ORIIRE ABDUCTION: “I Am Ready to Sacrifice Myself for the Release of the Children” – Governor Seyi Makinde

MAKINDE'S BOLD DECLARATION: "I AM READY TO SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR THE RELEASE OF OUR CHILDREN"

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has once again demonstrated courageous leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, declaring his readiness to personally sacrifice himself for the safe return of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

Speaking on Tuesday while addressing a peaceful solidarity protest led by renowned activist and social commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), at his private residence in Ikolaba, Ibadan, Governor Makinde made an emotional and powerful statement that has resonated across Oyo State and beyond.

"I can sacrifice myself for the release of the abducted children; I am almost 60 years old," the governor declared, emphasizing the value he places on the lives of innocent children and educators currently held captive by kidnappers.

The governor's statement reflects not only his deep concern for the victims and their families but also his determination to ensure that every available security measure is deployed to secure their freedom. Makinde assured residents that the security architecture currently in place remains active and capable of delivering results with minimal casualties.

While maintaining confidence in the ongoing rescue efforts, the governor disclosed that should the situation persist beyond expectations, he would not hesitate to personally volunteer in support of the rescue mission despite the obvious dangers involved.

Governor Makinde also reiterated his administration's stance against negotiating with criminal elements, insisting that government must continue to strengthen lawful and strategic security operations rather than embolden kidnappers through concessions.

The peaceful protest organized by VeryDarkMan and other concerned citizens was aimed at showing solidarity with the affected families and urging accelerated efforts toward the rescue of the victims. Commending the demonstrators for their civic responsibility, Makinde noted that constructive public engagement often serves as a catalyst for swift action and positive outcomes from both government institutions and security agencies.

Earlier, VeryDarkMan explained that the solidarity walk was not intended to criticize the government but rather to support ongoing rescue efforts and keep public attention focused on the plight of the abducted children and teachers until they are safely reunited with their loved ones.

The Oriire abduction has generated widespread concern across Nigeria, attracting reactions from civil society organizations, community leaders, and citizens who continue to call for decisive action against insecurity.

Governor Makinde's declaration stands as a remarkable testament to selfless leadership and a reminder that governance is ultimately about protecting lives and serving humanity. As rescue operations continue, the people of Oyo State remain united in hope and prayer for the safe return of every abducted child and teacher.

The governor's words have strengthened public confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that no effort is spared in bringing the victims home safely.

Indeed, at a time when leadership is most tested, Governor Seyi Makinde has shown that the safety and well-being of the people remain his highest priority.
