BREAKING: YYC POSTPONES YORUBA YOUTH SUMMIT IN IBADAN OVER NATIONAL YOUTH CONFAB
New Date to Be Announced as Southwest Participation in National Youth Conference Takes Centre Stage.
The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC) has announced the postponement of its much-anticipated Yoruba Youth Summit, earlier scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, until further notice.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Group President, Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan through the Council’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbeni Kabir Ajibode.
According to the statement, the decision was necessitated by the ongoing National Youth Conference (CONFAB), which is being held virtually across the country, with participants from the Southwest region scheduled to engage on October 16 and 17, 2026.
The Council explained that the postponement was necessary to prevent a clash of programmes and enable Yoruba youths to participate meaningfully in both engagements.
Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde recalled that the Federal Government had endorsed the original date for the summit, assuring stakeholders and prospective participants that a new date would be announced as soon as possible.
He appealed to Yoruba youths, invited guests, stakeholders, partners and supporters of the summit to remain patient and continue supporting the Council’s commitment to youth development, leadership, entrepreneurship and regional integration.
Meanwhile, the YYC President informed Yoruba youths of an invitation extended by the Council’s National Patron, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, to attend the official declaration in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Ibadan, as part of activities marking his birthday celebration.
The Council urged Yoruba youths to take note of the developments and remain united in advancing the interests, aspirations and collective progress of the Yoruba nation.
The Yoruba Youth Council regretted any inconvenience the postponement might cause and expressed appreciation for the understanding and continued cooperation of all stakeholders.
Signed:
Aare (Mogaji) Alawode Rahmon Akintunde
Group President, Yoruba Youth Council (YYC)
Issued through:
