NAF airstrikes kill terrorists, destroy enclave in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force said it has sustained its counter-terrorism offensive with fresh airstrikes that destroyed a terrorist enclave and killed several fighters in Borno State.
The NAF said the operation was carried out on July 10 by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai at Yaganari in the Gezuwa general area following credible intelligence on renewed terrorist activities.
In a statement on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force said intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs before the targets were engaged.
“The targets were subsequently engaged in a series of precision strikes, leading to the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the neutralisation of several terrorists,” the statement read.
The NAF said the latest operation further degraded the terrorists’ ability to regroup and move freely, describing it as another major success in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge.
“We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities,” Aneke said.
He added that the Armed Forces remained on course to consolidate the gains recorded in ongoing operations against terrorist groups across the country.
