ELEGE VISIONARY TEAM INSPECTS ARIYO ROAD LINKING PARAINUEWA–AIRPORT ROAD, VOWS TO PRIORITIZE INFRASTRUCTURE IN ONA ARA
ADP Assembly Candidate Says Poor Roads Must No Longer Hinder Economic Growth and Community Development
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ona Ara Constituency, Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi ELEGE, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development after leading members of his Visionary Team on an inspection of the deplorable Ariyo Road linking to the Parainuewa–Airport Road in Ona Ara Local Government Area.
The inspection, conducted on Thursday, August 13, 2026, formed part of the ELEGE Visionary Team’s ongoing grassroots engagement, community consultation and needs-assessment programme ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The road, which connects several communities and serves as an important route for residents travelling towards the Local Government headquarters and other parts of the constituency, was observed to be in poor condition, raising concerns among commuters and other road users.
During the inspection, ELEGE expressed concern over the impact of the road’s condition on the daily lives and economic activities of residents.
According to him, good road infrastructure is not merely about transportation but also about improving commerce, education, healthcare access, agriculture and the overall quality of life of the people.
“This road is more than just tar and gravel. It is the lifeline of our people. When our roads are bad, commerce suffers, education suffers, and our people suffer. As your representative, infrastructure development will be one of my top priorities in the Oyo State House of Assembly.”
Members of the Visionary Team documented the state of the road and interacted with residents and commuters to better understand the challenges they face. Residents reportedly highlighted difficulties associated with the movement of farm produce, transportation, access to healthcare facilities and other essential services.
ELEGE noted that such direct engagement with communities would enable him to understand the challenges facing the constituency beyond political meetings and campaign platforms.
He further assured residents that the findings from the inspection would be incorporated into his proposed legislative agenda and used to strengthen advocacy for appropriate government intervention and constituency development projects if elected in 2027.
The ADP candidate emphasized that effective representation should involve regular engagement with constituents, identifying their most pressing needs and pursuing practical solutions through the appropriate government institutions.
He also reiterated his commitment to a people-centred representation that would give greater attention to infrastructure, community development and the welfare of residents across Ona Ara Constituency.
The inspection is part of the broader activities of the ELEGE 2027 Movement, which continues to engage communities across the constituency and identify areas requiring urgent attention.
For residents of the affected communities, the visit provided an opportunity to directly communicate their concerns and expectations regarding the development of the area.
ELEGE’s inspection of the Ariyo–Parainuewa route therefore represents another step in his campaign message of grassroots engagement, responsive representation and infrastructure advocacy as the 2027 elections approach.
