Community Leaders Receive ADP Candidate’s Team, Reaffirm Commitment to Grassroots Engagement
IBADAN — Saturday, 8th August 2026:
The political landscape in Ona Ara Constituency continues to witness increasing grassroots engagement as the consultation tour of Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi ELEGE, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ona Ara Constituency, extended to the Itesiwaju Parapo Community Development Association (CDA).
The visit formed part of the ongoing grassroots consultation and community engagement programme of the ELEGE 2027 movement, designed to interact directly with residents, community leaders, stakeholders and other critical groups across Ona Ara Local Government Area.
The delegation visited communities along the Olunloyo–Idi Iroko axis, where it engaged members of the Itesiwaju Parapo CDA on issues concerning effective representation, community development, youth inclusion, infrastructure, empowerment and the need for stronger communication between elected representatives and the people.
The team was warmly received by the leadership and members of the association under the guidance of Elder Abiodun, who led the community's reception of the delegation.
GRASSROOTS REPRESENTATION TAKES CENTRE STAGE
Speaking during the engagement, representatives of the ELEGE consultation team stressed the importance of returning political representation to the grassroots by ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of ordinary residents receive adequate attention at the legislative level.
According to the team, Hon. ELEGE's political vision is anchored on accessible representation, accountability, inclusive governance and community-focused development.
The team explained that effective representation should go beyond election periods and should involve continuous consultation with constituents, identification of community needs and constructive engagement with relevant authorities to pursue solutions.
They further highlighted the importance of a representative who understands the realities of the constituency and is willing to maintain an open channel of communication with the people.
Responding to the delegation, the leadership and members of Itesiwaju Parapo CDA expressed their appreciation for the visit and the decision of the ELEGE team to engage directly with the community.
Elder Abiodun, who spoke on behalf of the association, commended the consultation initiative, describing grassroots engagement as an important aspect of democratic participation.
He noted the importance of political leaders understanding the conditions and aspirations of the communities they seek to represent rather than relying solely on political structures.
The community leadership, according to the report, also expressed its readiness to work with and support the ELEGE movement, while pledging to mobilise residents and stakeholders across Olunloyo, Idi Iroko and neighbouring communities ahead of the 2027 elections.
A GROWING GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT
The Itesiwaju Parapo engagement represents another stage in the continuing consultation activities of the ELEGE 2027 campaign structure across Ona Ara Constituency.
Rather than limiting its activities to conventional political gatherings, the movement has continued to emphasise direct interaction with communities and local stakeholders as part of its strategy ahead of the 2027 election.
Supporters of Hon. ELEGE believe that sustained grassroots consultation will provide an avenue to better understand the priorities of different communities and develop a more inclusive political agenda for the constituency.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for members of the community to interact with the consultation team, exchange views and discuss issues that directly affect residents within the area.
LOOKING TOWARD 2027
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders across Ona Ara are expected to witness increased consultations, mobilisation and engagement among political parties and candidates.
For the ELEGE 2027 movement, the message remains centred on grassroots participation, effective representation, community development and people-oriented leadership.
The visit to Itesiwaju Parapo CDA therefore adds another chapter to the movement's ongoing engagement with communities across Ona Ara, with the campaign team maintaining that the people must remain at the heart of any meaningful political programme.
