Oyo State Politics: "No River for Eleniyan to Cross" — Hon. Daniel Akeni Declares Diaspora Support
IBADAN, NIGERIA — The political atmosphere in Oyo State continues to gather momentum as supporters of various aspirants intensify consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of future political contests.
Adding his voice to the growing conversation, Hon. Daniel Akeni, Deputy Coordinator for Diaspora (USA/Canada), has expressed strong confidence in the political prospects of the grassroots politician popularly known as Eleniyan, declaring that his movement enjoys widespread support among party faithful and citizens.
In a statement made available to the press, Akeni argued that the political landscape in Oyo State has become increasingly favourable to Eleniyan, whom he described as a leader with a strong connection to the grassroots.
"No River for Eleniyan to Cross"
Using a popular local metaphor, Hon. Akeni said:
"There is no river for Eleniyan to cross in Oyo State. The path is clear, the ground is solid, and the people are ready. Those seeking to stand against this growing movement should understand that the people are demanding leadership that prioritizes their welfare and development."
He maintained that the movement behind Eleniyan is driven by what he described as increasing public enthusiasm from supporters both within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
Diaspora Mobilization
According to Akeni, supporters in the United States and Canada are strengthening their networks to promote the movement's vision and encourage greater civic participation among Oyo indigenes.
He said the diaspora coalition intends to contribute ideas, expertise, and investments that could support the state's long-term development if given the opportunity.
Vision Outlined by Supporters:
Akeni highlighted several priorities that supporters say define Eleniyan's vision, including:
Strengthening grassroots-oriented governance
Promoting economic growth through local enterprise and job creation.
Expanding collaboration with the Nigerian diaspora to attract investment and development initiatives.
Encouraging inclusive leadership and broader citizen participation in governance.
Looking Ahead
As political activities continue to gather pace in Oyo State, statements such as Akeni's reflect the confidence of Eleniyan's supporters and underscore the increasing intensity of political engagement across the state.
While supporters describe the movement as gaining momentum, the eventual outcome will depend on the democratic process and the decisions of voters when the time comes.
