Oyo 2027: Egbeda (ADP) Assembly Candidate Akinwale Unveils Agenda for Better Representation, Development

Oyo 2027: Egbeda (ADP) Assembly Candidate Akinwale Unveils Agenda for Better Representation, Development

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Egbeda Constituency, Hon. Akinwale Olusayo Michael, has outlined his vision for a more inclusive, accountable and development-oriented representation for the people of Egbeda and Oyo State.

Speaking on his vision for the constituency and the state, Akinwale said the future of Oyo State requires leadership that places opportunity, accountability, development and genuine representation at the centre of governance.

According to him, effective representation goes beyond occupying a political office, stressing that elected officials must remain connected to the people they represent and be willing to listen to their concerns, understand their challenges and pursue practical legislative and developmental solutions.

“A better Oyo begins with better representation,” the candidate stated, emphasising the need for public office holders to see their positions as a responsibility to the people rather than a privilege.

Akinwale identified education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, healthcare, security, agriculture and economic opportunities among the critical areas that require sustained attention if Oyo State is to achieve meaningful and inclusive development.

He noted that young people, who constitute a significant portion of the state's population, must be given access to opportunities that can enable them to acquire relevant skills, become economically productive and contribute positively to their communities.

On education, the Egbeda Assembly candidate maintained that investment in human capital remains fundamental to building a stronger society. He advocated greater attention to educational opportunities and initiatives capable of preparing young people for the demands of a rapidly changing economy.

On education, the Egbeda Assembly candidate maintained that investment in human capital remains fundamental to building a stronger society. He advocated greater attention to educational opportunities and initiatives capable of preparing young people for the demands of a rapidly changing economy.

He also stressed the importance of improving basic infrastructure across communities, noting that roads, healthcare facilities, water supply and other essential public amenities directly affect the quality of life of residents and the economic activities of local communities.

According to him, agriculture should also receive greater attention as a means of creating employment, strengthening food security and opening new economic opportunities for residents, particularly young people.

Akinwale further emphasised the importance of accessible healthcare and community security, arguing that development cannot be sustained where residents lack adequate access to essential services and feel insecure within their communities.

Beyond physical projects, the candidate said effective representation at the Oyo State House of Assembly must include meaningful legislation, constructive engagement with constituents and accountability to the electorate.

He pledged that, if elected, he would work to ensure that the voices and interests of the people of Egbeda Constituency receive appropriate attention within the legislative process.

Akinwale's vision comes as political stakeholders across Oyo State begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with issues surrounding grassroots development, effective representation, youth participation and accountable governance expected to remain central to political conversations.

The candidate called on residents and stakeholders to look beyond political rhetoric and focus on leadership that can translate promises into practical results.

He maintained that the desired Oyo State can only be achieved through collective effort, responsible leadership and active participation from citizens.

Hon. Akinwale Olusayo Michael is seeking to represent Egbeda Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the banner of his political vision, (ADP) “One Destiny • Action Forward.”
