Makinde declares Presidential ambition at PDP–APM alliance rally

The declaration, which drew a large crowd of party supporters, stakeholders, and political allies, marks a significant moment in the unfolding political realignments ahead of the next general election cycle.

The rally, held amid heightened political activity within the opposition space, saw supporters gather in their numbers to witness what many described as a defining step in Makinde’s national political journey.

Makinde’s announcement is expected to reshape discussions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its allied structures, as consultations and alignments intensify ahead of party primaries and broader electoral strategies.

Political observers say the declaration positions the Oyo governor as one of the leading contenders in early permutations for the 2027 presidential race, particularly within the PDP and emerging coalition platforms.

The PDP–APM Alliance rally in Ibadan also served as a platform for showcasing political unity among participating groups, with leaders calling for greater coordination ahead of future elections.

Supporters at the venue expressed excitement following the declaration, describing it as a bold step that signals renewed momentum within the opposition camp.

Further details are expected as reactions continue to trail the governor’s formal entry into the presidential race.
