KOLAPO ISHOLA MEMORIAL COMPETITION: LORD'S AMBASSADOR FC BOWS OUT AFTER GOALLESS DRAW AGAINST EVERBEST FC

Lord's Ambassador Football Club, proudly sponsored by the ELEGE Foundation, has exited the Kolapo Ishola Memorial Competition despite an impressive performance against Everbest Football Club in the second-leg encounter played on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The match was held at Zumuratul Hujaj Secondary School Pitch, Olorunsogo, off Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan, and attracted football enthusiasts who witnessed a thrilling contest between the two sides.

The highly anticipated encounter commenced at exactly 12:53 p.m. and witnessed a spirited display from both teams. The first half ended at approximately 1:28 p.m. with neither side able to break the deadlock, resulting in a goalless scoreline at the interval.

The second half resumed promptly at 1:38 p.m., with Lord's Ambassador FC taking control of proceedings and dominating large spells of the game through excellent ball possession, tactical discipline, and remarkable exhibitions of skill from the players. Despite creating several promising goal-scoring opportunities, the team was unable to convert its chances into goals.

At the final whistle, the match ended in a goalless draw, bringing Lord's Ambassador FC's campaign in the Kolapo Ishola Memorial Competition to an unfortunate conclusion. However, the club remains firmly focused on its league ambitions and continues to maintain its position in the league standings.

Speaking after the match, the Chairman of Lord's Ambassador Football Club and ADP candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ona Ara Constituency, Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi ELEGE, expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance.

According to him, the players gave a commendable account of themselves throughout the encounter but were unable to convert the numerous chances created.

"The boys played very well and demonstrated great commitment on the pitch. Unfortunately, we could not convert the many opportunities that came our way. Sometimes football can be unpredictable, and today the god of football was not on our side," he stated.

Hon. ELEGE, however, encouraged the players to remain focused and motivated, emphasizing that greater opportunities lie ahead for the club beyond the confines of Ona Ara Constituency and Oyo State.

"There are bigger games and greater competitions ahead of us. This result should serve as motivation for us to work harder and continue striving for excellence. I am proud of the players and confident that better days are ahead for this team," he added.

Despite the disappointment of elimination, Lord's Ambassador FC leaves the competition with its head held high, having demonstrated resilience, sportsmanship, and a strong competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
