Ileya 2026: Celebrating Sacrifice, Unity & Hope for a Better Tomorrow — Message from Hon. Gbemileke Alagbe Eleniyan

Celebration of Sacrifice and Unity: A Message of Hope for the Ileya Festival

From hon. Gbemileke Alagbe Eleniyan ADC GOVERNORSHIP *candidate* for 2027.

As the crescent moon ushers in the sacred season of Eid el-Kabir, popularly known as the Ileya Festival,

we join millions of Muslim faithful across Oyo State and the world in a profound celebration of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

The Ileya Festival is more than just a period of festivities; it is a timeless reminder of the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim.

It teaches us the virtues of patience, the importance of keeping our promises to the Almighty, and the beauty of sharing with those around us.

The Spirit of the Season
In these times, the lessons of Eid el-Kabir are particularly relevant.

Sacrifice is the foundation of any great society. Just as the festival encourages the sharing of meals and resources, it also calls on us to:

Strengthen Community Ties: Reaching out to neighbors, regardless of their background.

Support the Vulnerable: Ensuring that the joy of the festival reaches every household.

Reflect on Selflessness: Putting the collective good of our state and people above individual interests.

A Vision for the Future
As we celebrate this year’s festival, we must also look toward the future of Oyo State.

The spirit of "Eleniyan"—being a person of the people—means understanding that the progress of our state depends on our ability to work together in harmony and mutual respect.

May this festival bring an abundance of peace to our homes and renewed hope for the journey ahead.

As we share in the joy of the season, let us pray for a prosperous and united Oyo State where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

"Eid is a time for joy, a time for togetherness, and a time to remember the blessings that come through faith and sacrifice."

Barka Da Sallah to all our Muslim brothers and sisters. Happy Ileya Festival!
