BREAKING: NNPP Southwest Leaders Join JDS Movement, Back Tinubu, Alli, APC Candidates

Leaders of the Southwest Kwakwasiyah faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have joined the JDS Movement led by the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi.

The development was announced during a meeting between the group and Chief Sanusi at the Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan, where the delegation declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s governorship aspiration in Oyo State, and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates across the Southwest.

The delegation was led by Hon. Anthony Makinde Sunday from Oyo State, alongside Chief (Mrs.) Veronica “Ronnie” Dikko-Kila from Lagos, Pastor Peter Olagookun from Ondo State, and Chief Ade Ayeni from Ekiti State.

Receiving the delegation, Chief Sanusi welcomed the development and said the movement remained open to individuals and groups committed to service, development and responsible leadership.

“Our doors are open to everybody who believes in service, development and responsible leadership. We are building a movement around the people, ideas and the future of our communities.”

Sanusi also called for peaceful political engagement and greater emphasis on grassroots development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Politics is ultimately about the people. When people from different political backgrounds come together because they believe in a common purpose, we should welcome that development.”

The delegation was received on behalf of Senator Yunus Akintunde, APC candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, by former Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Barrister Kazeem Adedeji.

Adedeji welcomed the new members into the political fold and described Chief Sanusi as a representative of what he characterised as the Tinubu political project.

“The Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi you are meeting today is a strong representative of the political vision and leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. By coming here and identifying with this movement, you are in safe hands.”

He further said the experience, networks and grassroots structures of the new members would be valuable to the political mobilisation ahead of 2027.
