ADC Diaspora Network Reaffirms Gbemileke Alagbe (Eleniyan) as Authentic Oyo Governorship Candidate, Cites Certified Primary Results

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Diaspora Network, under the leadership of its Chairman, Hon. Daniel Akeni, has reaffirmed Hon. Gbemileke Alagbe (Eleniyan) as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State, while rejecting what it described as misleading claims by other aspirants regarding the party’s governorship nomination.

The statement follows recent media appearances and radio interviews in which some dissenting aspirants have allegedly continued to present themselves as candidates of the ADC despite the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election.

Official Primary Election Results

According to the results announced by the Chairman of the Oyo State ADC Primary Election Committee, Harrison Akpojaro, alongside committee members Dr. Mohammed Shaba, Alhaja Kafilat Omolabake, Dr. Mavis Ujumor, and Princess Aderonke Adedoja, the direct primary produced the following tally:

Gbemileke Alagbe (Eleniyan) — 15,107 votes
Niyi Aborisade — 4,307 votes
Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke — 987 votes
Azeez Adeduntan — 500 votes
Oyebisi Luqmon Ilaka — 90 votes
Total Valid Votes: 21,600

The Diaspora Network maintains that the primary election was conducted across the local government areas of Oyo State in accordance with the party’s guidelines and under the observation of relevant authorities, including representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police Force, and the State Security Service (SSS).

Diaspor Network’s Position

The organisation furtherstated that Hon. Gbemileke Alagbe has been issued a Certified True Copy (CTC) by INEC, which it considers further evidence of his status as the party’s recognised governorship candidate.
The Network therefore called on all members, supporters and aspirants of the ADC to respect the outcome of the party’s primary election and refrain from actions capable of creating confusion among party members and the electorate.

It particularly condemned what it described as attempts by unsuccessful aspirants to continue claiming the party’s governorship ticket through media appearances, stressing that such actions could undermine party cohesion ahead of the general election.

Call for Party Unity

Hon. Daniel Akeni urged the ADC National Working Committee and the Oyo State Executive Committee to take decisive steps to preserve discipline, unity and the integrity of the party’s electoral process.

“With the general election approaching, we must not allow internal friction or opposition tactics to undermine our momentum.

The primary election was peaceful, transparent and legally binding. We call on all party leadership to uphold discipline and urge all former aspirants to support Hon. Gbemileke Alagbe for victory in the upcoming election.”

The ADC Diaspora Network maintained that the party’s focus should now shift toward reconciliation, mobilisation and preparations for the general election, urging all members to close ranks and work collectively for the success of the ADC in Oyo State.
