ADC CANDIDACY: SHABA MEDIA SETS RECORD STRAIGHT ON EGBEDA/ONA-ARA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

ADC CANDIDACY: SHABA MEDIA SETS RECORD STRAIGHT ON EGBEDA/ONA-ARA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

Our attention has been drawn to a recent media intervention credited to Hon. Olusogo Akinyemi Akinpelu, in which he reportedly sought to clarify issues surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidacy for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency while presenting himself as the authentic flag bearer of the party.

Ordinarily, such a publication would not warrant a response. However, in the interest of the good people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and all stakeholders who value transparency, due process and political accountability, we consider it necessary to clarify our position.

For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Musibau Adeshina Sanusi (SHABA) maintains that he is the authentic candidate of the ADC for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

According to the records and documentation available to his camp, he fulfilled the requirements of the party and emerged through the prescribed party process, with his candidacy subsequently submitted to the relevant electoral authorities.

Where competing claims exist, the appropriate avenue for determining authenticity is through the official records of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), rather than through competing media declarations.

Political legitimacy is ultimately a matter to be established through due process, verifiable documentation and decisions of the competent authorities. Accordingly, anyone seeking clarification on the ADC candidacy is encouraged to consult the relevant party and electoral records.

We also acknowledge questions that have been raised regarding Hon. Olusogo Akinyemi Akinpelu's political trajectory, including reports concerning his alleged movement from the All Progressives Congress (APC), his reported inability to secure the party's ticket and his subsequent political realignment.

These matters, where relevant, should equally be determined by documentary evidence and official records rather than speculation. If there are competing accounts regarding his political status or previous party affiliation, the appropriate records should provide the necessary clarification.

The central issue, therefore, should not be personality or political animosity, but rather accountability, consistency and adherence to established political and electoral procedures.
Meanwhile, supporters of Hon. Musibau Adeshina Sanusi emphasise his longstanding connection with the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara and his experience in local government administration.

They point to his tenure as Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government as part of the experience informing his aspiration to represent the constituency at the federal level.

His supporters further cite what they describe as achievements recorded during his tenure and recognitions received for his service, maintaining that his record should be assessed on the basis of verifiable facts and documentary evidence.

Representation goes beyond appearing on a ballot. It also involves understanding the people, their communities and the challenges confronting them, while developing practical approaches to addressing those challenges.

We therefore encourage all parties and stakeholders involved in the ongoing discussion to prioritise evidence over rhetoric.

Anyone contesting the authenticity of any candidate should make the relevant documentation available, approach the appropriate party authorities and, where necessary, seek clarification from INEC.
To the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Musibau Adeshina Sanusi (SHABA) and his supporters maintain their position that he is the authentic ADC candidate for the constituency. They maintain that his emergence followed the party's prescribed process and that his candidacy was submitted to the relevant electoral authorities.

The appropriate records and competent institutions remain the proper reference points for resolving any competing claim.
The issue before the public should therefore not be about who generates the loudest headline, but about what the official records establish, who followed the prescribed process and whose candidacy is recognised by the competent authorities.

We urge the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara to remain discerning, verify competing claims through official channels and make informed judgments based on credible evidence.
