The 2027 general elections may be a defining moment for democratic participation in Oyo South, as the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Senatorial candidate, Honourable Oloyede Esther Oluwatimileyin Esq., has issued a strong call for collective vigilance across the nine Local Government Areas of the senatorial district.
Oloyede urged residents and political stakeholders to unite and build a strong civic voice capable of resisting any attempt to manipulate the electoral process or undermine the choice of voters.
The candidate stressed that the protection of the ballot box should not be left to politicians alone, urging citizens to take ownership of the electoral process by participating actively, remaining vigilant and demanding transparency through lawful and peaceful means.
According to Oloyede, the people of Oyo South must recognise the power of their collective voice ahead of 2027, insisting that every voter deserves an electoral process where their choice is respected.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to what she described as better representation, accountability and service to the people, saying her decision to contest was driven by a call to serve and contribute to the development of the entire senatorial district.
The ADP candidate particularly highlighted the role of young people in shaping the future of governance, calling on the younger generation to move beyond political observation and become active participants in the democratic process.
“It is time to blaze the trail for the next generation. We cannot continue to watch from the sidelines. Our collective voice must be heard, and our democratic rights must be protected,” Oloyede said.
She called for unity across the nine LGAs, urging voters to reject violence and intimidation while standing firmly for credible, transparent and peaceful elections.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027, Oloyede's message has placed renewed attention on voter vigilance, electoral accountability and the demand for credible representation in Oyo South.
