2027: “Don’t Just Watch History—Be Part of It,” Shaba Urges Egbeda/Ona-Ara Residents to Get Their PVCs

As preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, residents of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency have been urged to participate actively in the democratic process by obtaining and collecting their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).

The appeal, contained in a civic-awareness message ahead of the commencement of PVC collection, emphasised that citizens should not remain spectators while decisions affecting their communities and the country are being made.

The message, titled “Don’t Just Watch History—Be Part of the Process. Get Your Voter’s Card,” described the PVC as more than an identification card, but an important instrument through which citizens can exercise their constitutional right to choose their representatives.

It urged eligible residents across Egbeda/Ona-Ara to visit their respective wards and complete the necessary processes when collection begins.

The campaign also encouraged voters to look beyond political slogans, promises and rhetoric when deciding who to support at the polls.

According to the message, voters should carefully study the candidates, examine their records and consider their character, experience, capacity, programmes and vision before casting their ballots.

It further challenged residents to ask critical questions about the competence of candidates, their understanding of community needs and their demonstrated commitment to public service.

The message noted that democracy is not simply about observing political events, but about actively participating in the process that determines the direction of governance and the future of communities.

It stressed that while obtaining the PVC is an important first step, citizens must also turn out on election day and make informed choices.

“Your vote is your mandate. Your participation is your power. Your choice can shape tomorrow,” the message stated.

The campaign therefore called on residents to take the electoral process seriously, urging them to collect their voter’s cards, become informed, participate actively and vote wisely.
